To celebrate Laconia Motorcycle Week, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani’s Belmont office invited bikers to kick their stands up for a good cause –  the Greater Lakes Region Children’s Auction. For a minimum donation of $10/person, visitors could fuel up with pancakes before taking a two-hour ride ending at Patrick’s Pub in Gilford, where there was a raffle and prizes.

As a kid growing up in the Seacoast, each summer my family would drive out to Portsmouth, spread a blanket in the grass in Prescott Park, and see the annual musical put on by the Prescott Park ArtsFestival. As I got older, I still went, this time to either watch friends in productions or have an evening out. My parents enjoy the arts, and while we went to other local shows too year-round, something about sitting outside by theocean to see a quality production that was open to the public sticks out in my memory.

I still needed to figure out how to pace myself so I could breathe and not suffer debilitating side stitches. I soon graduated from 5Ks to 5 milers and even threw in a few trail runs. From there I propelled into the 10 milers and half marathons and then decided why not throw some obstacles races into the mix …you know, just for fun.

Verani Realty

With Southern New Hampshire’s proximity to Boston and a thriving arts scene on the Seacoast, other pockets of the state sometimes get overlooked for their arts and culture contributions. Fortunately, that is no longer the case for Concord, which has plenty of quaintness and art to go around. When you need something smaller and closer than the big city, Concord gives a hefty dose of arts and charm with half the drive.

A week ago I was invited to attend a ‘pre-opening’ event to celebrate the opening of a second location for Pressed Café, a successful restaurant in Nashua on 108 Spit Brook Road, right in Tara Commons Plaza. ‘NH Magazine Best of NH’ Pressed Café opened in Nashua couple years ago and the reviews have been startling. The menu has over 30 signature paninis, creative, unique and healthy combinations to choose from especially for me as I eat mostly middle eastern-vegetarian and fish dishes.
